Forged Steel Pipe Flanges

The material of forged steel pipe flanges contains stainless steel, carbon steel and alloy steel. SO flange, also called Slip on flange, is one common type of forged steel pipe flanges. Dimension is 1/2″ – 48″/ DN15 – DN1200.

ASME B16.5 is the standard of flange, and it is suitable for stainless steel flange, alloy steel flange and carbon steel flange. ASTM A182 Grade F304/L and F316/L is the common material grade for Weld Neck Flange ( WN),Slip-on Flange (SO), Threaded Flange (THD),Socket Weld Flange (SW),Blind Flange (BL),Lap Joint Flange (LAPJ),Plate flange (PL).

ASME B16. 5 is limited to flanges and flanged fittings made from cast or forged materials, and blind flanges and certain reducing flanges made from cast, forged, or plate materials. Also included in this Standard are requirements and recommendations regarding flange bolting, flange gaskets, and flange joints.

The most used flange types ASME B16.5 are Welding Neck, Slip On, Socket Weld, Lap Joint, Threaded and Blind flange.

Slip on flange can be made by forging, steel cutting, casting and etc. Among these manufacturing types, the forging type gains the best quality and also the most common use.

They’re a two-part flange consisting of a Lap Joint Stub End which is butt welded to the pipe and a backing lap joint flange which is slid onto the pipe before welding the Stub End.

Slip On Flange Dimension

The distance from the center of the flange hole, as the name suggests, refers to the distance between the centers of the two opposite holes on the flange.
Flange center distance is the distance from the center of the flange bolt hole to the center of the diagonal bolt hole. When measuring, take the distance from the inside of one end of the bolt hole (as shown in the figure above) to the outside of the diagonal bolt hole as the center moment of the flange. To ensure the correct installation of telescopic energy saving, the bolt diameter and number of holes should also be measured.

300# Forged Steel Flange

A flange can be defined as a method that helps in connecting pipes, valves, etc., to form a full piping system. There are six flange classes ranging from #150 to #2500. Governed by B 16.5 standards, the ASME B16. 5 Class 300 Flange provides a pressure capacity of 300Lb.
